What Time is it? Summertime!

Now that summer is finally here, we’d thought it’d be the perfect opportunity to showcase some programs and opportunities available to the youth in our community during the break at either low-to-no cost to you or your family.

The Alley: Get your bowling shoes out! The Kids Bowl Free program at The Alley offers registered kids between the ages of 2-14 two free games everyday all summer long. Besides the shoe rental at the location, registration is free. Additionally, if you plan to visit regularly, the Family Pass Plan may be the plan for you. With a single fee ranging from $42-47 (depending on family size) you can add registered teens and adults to the fun.

Planet Fitness: In their on-going effort to encourage mental and physical well-being, Planet Fitness is proud to announce the return of their High School Pass program. Aimed at high school teens ages 14-19, the program allows registered teens to work out for free during the summer up until August 31st. If under 18 teens will have to register with a parent or guardian present online or in-person.

Fox Theatre: Fan of movies? The Historic Fox Theatre has you covered with their Kids Film Series. From the Minecraft movie to the live-action Little Mermaid, this series offers it all and with the Kids Film Series Pass, you’ll be able to enjoy eight admissions for the price of $16 if paid at the box office or by phone. This pass can be shared amongst members.

Hutchinson Public Library: As always, the library hosts a myriad of programs and events throughout the summer for everyone regardless of age. Most notably, the library offers a summer reading program. From kindergarten all the way up to adults, this challenge encourages reading with the chance of winning prizes such as a ticket to the state fair in September. Not a fan of reading? That’s alright! Programs such as the Tabletop Adventurers Society and events like Murder Mystery at the Summer Block Party ensures a space for everyone! Furthermore, if you are a young adult (grades 7-12, in this case) and you want to get involved planning events for teens your age, feel free to fill out an application for the YA Advisory Board here.

While these are just some opportunities available during the summer break, as always the Hutch Zoo and Dillon Nature Center are great family or solo trips with no cost for admission.

Furthermore, here at Wisdom In Motion we are happy to announce that we will continue to have our programs during the summer as well. From fishing in the outdoors, cooking delicious meals, animal care and gardening, and career readiness training, we strive to create a positive environment for the youth in our community. Affordability should not be a barrier to those we serve and as a result we have implemented a sliding scale fee where households pay based on income. Sign up now to determine what programs best suit you.
